Briggs was one of the Sauk County natives who made a significant
contribution to the development first of the modern newspaper and ultimately to
contemporary mass communication.
Pioneer
Log Village and Museum is located 2 miles east of Reedsburg on Highways
23 and 33 featuring seven log buildings for preservation and viewing which
include antique furnishing. Pioneer Settlement Displaying 1890's log homes,
church, blacksmith shop and school.
Reedsburg
Area Historical Society is located 2 miles east of Reedsburg on
Highways 23 and 33 and open for general public tours. Museum features household
and farm artifacts.
The
"400" Trail was officially opened in June of 1993. The
Trail is named for the Chicago-Northwestern passenger train that ran on this
grade. The train traveled the 400 miles between Chicago and Minneapolis/St. Paul
in 400 minutes. Wetlands, sandstone bluffs, rolling croplands, and pastures are
just a few of the sights visitors will enjoy on the "400" trail. This
22-mile trail between Elroy and Reedsburg offers beautiful scenery, bountiful
wildlife, and friendly, small town hospitality.
Museum
of Norman Rockwell Art with almost 4,000 of the original magazine
covers, calendars, story illustrations, advertisements and other memorabilia and
prints on display.
Reedsburg is located only
minutes away from the most exciting attractions in the nation, such as Wisconsin
Dells, Circus World Museum, Devil's
Lake, the House on the Rock
and the American Players Theatre.
